Project Details

Long, freezing winters, notoriously harsh winds, and up to 38-inches of snow per year make North Dakota one of the toughest outdoor environments in the country. Six years ago, to protect their North Dakota oilfield wellheads, RTR Oilfield Services partnered with Dragon Jacket Insulation to engineer a custom, long-term insulation solution.

Dragon Jacket used 3D scanning to design and produce precision-fitted insulation parts for RTR’s wellhead and casing isolation valves. The goal was to ensure that every inch of the irregularly shaped components received adequate protection without compromising accessibility or durability.

Six years later, Dragon Jacket’s insulation is still holding strong. Despite the brutal conditions, the custom-fitted insulation continues to safeguard the wellhead components effectively, preventing costly freeze-ups and maintaining optimal operational integrity. The insulation has not only withstood extreme temperatures but also has resisted wind damage, moisture infiltration, and general wear and tear.
